Former Army Colonel and Corporate HR Veteran Dr Sanjay Verma, PhD, Releases Global Thriller “The Anatomy of the Siren in the Crossfire”

The Author's Third Book Arrives as He Also Opens a New HR Consultancy, Perfect Palette

The Anatomy of the Siren in the Crossfire, a new global thriller by author Dr Sanjay Verma, has gone live on Amazon, marking his third published book after Corporate Cocktail and Catastrophe. Billed on its cover as "A global war. A human cost. A race against time," the novel is the latest release from an author whose writing draws directly on more than two decades in the Indian Army followed by a long corporate career in human resources.

In the novel, war is portrayed as more than smoke and gunfire. According to the book's own description, it is a crucible where desire, betrayal, and whispered promises ignite as nations collide in brutal conflict, and where a siren's call lures leaders into peril, lovers into impossible choices, and soldiers into shadows where truth and deception entwine. The book is described as an exploration not only of the anatomy of war, but of the human soul under siege.

An Author Shaped by the Battlefield and the Boardroom

Dr Verma's fiction draws heavily on lived experience. An alumnus of RIMC Dehradun, he underwent military training at the NDA and IMA before being commissioned into The Central India Horse, an armoured regiment of the Indian Army, in June 1983. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College and served on three operational assignments, including an active tenure in the Gurez Sector of Jammu & Kashmir on the Line of Control in a high-altitude area, before taking premature release as a half-colonel to build a second career in the corporate world.

That second career took him through organisations including Tata Power, HCL Technology, Larsen & Toubro, and Reliance Industries, where he superannuated as VP and Head of the Petrochemical Academy, and later as Group Chief Human Resources Officer of the Dhirendra Group. He holds an MSc, an MBA, and a PhD in Sustainable Human Development from Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, and has served as a Mentor of Change with NITI Aayog. In 2025, he was recognised as the Great Indian CHRO Icon by Transformance and the Most Iconic CHRO by the Golden Aim Awards.

A Third Book, Building on Two Earlier Releases

The Anatomy of the Siren in the Crossfire follows two earlier books by Dr Verma. His first, Corporate Cocktail, published in August 2017, is described as a classy and rich blend of stories from his corporate journey, using heart-touching incidents to open up avenues for readers to reflect on humility, positive attitude, and caring behaviour in their own working lives.

His second book and first novel, Catastrophe, released in October 2018, is a work of fiction inspired by real incidents in the life of a soldier. Its central character, Narendra, is capable of protecting his motherland from terrorists and enemies but finds himself unable to protect his own family, becoming disillusioned by societal injustice in which even his own blood becomes a tormentor. Both Corporate Cocktail and Catastrophe remain available on Amazon and Flipkart, with bulk order enquiries directed to their respective publishers.

Fiction Alongside a New Consultancy Launch

The release of his third book comes as Dr Verma also launches Perfect Palette, a leadership and learning consultancy he has co-founded with Mona Verma. The firm delivers bespoke programs in personal development, executive leadership, communication, and operational excellence, and has already conducted a full-day workshop on HR and labour laws in Mumbai for HR heads in February 2026, along with a session on Emotional Intelligence and Resilience for the leadership of a cement plant in Jhansi in July 2026.

Over the course of his career, Dr Verma has trained more than 10,000 employees, largely engineers and MBAs, and has been a guest speaker at institutions including VGSOM at IIT Kharagpur, IMT Nagpur, IIM Udaipur, Welingkar, VIT and D Y Patil in Mumbai, IFCAI Delhi, and Amity University, Noida. He holds certifications from organisations including ISTD, CAMI (USA), the Target Training Institute (USA), Belbin (UK), the Cultural Intelligence Centre (USA), and SHRM, among others.
