National Recognition for Digital Health Innovation: Dr. Abhijeet Prasad Sinha Receives Government of India Patent

New Delhi: Dr. Abhijeet Prasad Sinha’s work in digital health and population health informatics has received national recognition, with the Government of India granting a patent for a “Diabetes Management System.” The patent, No. 598128, was granted on 6 August 2026 under application number 202311002366, with Dr. Abhijeet Prasad Sinha named as a key inventor.

The patent grew out of Dr. Abhijeet Prasad Sinha’s PhD at DIT University, which focused on mHealth and nutrition informatics interventions for the home-based self-care of Type 2 diabetes. That research led to the development and evaluation of Swayam Diabetes, an integrated mobile health platform that supports people in managing their condition. Published studies on the project examined the app’s user-centred design, usability and utility in home settings. The patent reflects the full arc of an academic research programme, from identifying a healthcare problem through digital intervention development, evaluation and publication to intellectual property protection.

Dr. Abhijeet Prasad Sinha holds a PhD in Population Health Informatics from DIT University, an MPH from the University of Brighton and an MBA from XISS Ranchi. He has more than 22 years of experience across government, international development, healthcare, corporate and academic settings in India, South Africa and the UK. In India, he has worked with CARE India, Hindustan Unilever Limited, KPMG, PATH and EY’s Technical Support Unit under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, covering technical assistance to government, health-system strengthening, public-health programme management, large-scale health and hygiene programmes, CSR and ESG, and healthcare quality. In South Africa, he worked with HIV South Africa/VSO on HIV programme management and capacity building, and in the UK, his role with NHS UK provided experience in healthcare administration and health-service operations.

Dr. Abhijeet Prasad Sinha is currently Associate Professor at IIHMR University, Jaipur, where his responsibilities include teaching, research and academic development. Prior to this, he served as Associate Professor at the Amity Institute of Public Health and Hospital Administration, Amity University, Noida. His expertise spans public health, hospital management, health systems and policy, Health Technology Assessment, artificial intelligence, digital health and healthcare informatics, and his research interests include chronic disease management and telemedicine. His publications include contributions to The Lancet and the Global Burden of Disease Study. In his current role, he is expanding his academic and project portfolio in digital transformation, AI in healthcare, healthcare management and evidence-informed health policy.
