A Shelter from Suffering – Old Age Home Becomes a Support for the Elderly in Rural Areas

In the twilight of life, many elderly are left behind by their own people. For such destitute elderly, “Aadhar Old Age Home” at Nilanga has become a real support system. The founder, Dr Manisha Raje Holkunde, started this home 12 years ago to take care of those abandoned by their families, providing them with medicines, food, and shelter.

Today, the home serves as a center of hope for the many left helpless. Alongside caring for the elderly, the institution also undertakes various social initiatives. The organization operates old age homes in Latur, Nilanga, and Solapur districts. Many elderly people find support and a new will to live here. Understanding the needs, the institution also runs various awareness campaigns in rural areas about the importance of caring for the aged.

Their excellent social work and impactful initiatives have earned this home international recognition. The “Global Book of Excellence” (GBE) has honored Manisha Holkunde for her remarkable contribution to social service.

This old age home’s tireless service has earned it recognition from the Global Book of Excellence (London). The head, Manisha Holkunde, received a certificate and medal from the organization. Many dignitaries and associates from various countries applauded her work. Manisha Raje Holkunde was also congratulated for linking the institution to many national and international organizations.

Free Skill Training for Students

1. Free sewing classes for women and girls: The organization conducts free sewing courses for economic upliftment.

2. Free computer courses for students: Rural children are trained in computer skills for employment. Guidance is also provided for competitive exam preparation.

3. Elderly health check-ups: The institution organizes regular health camps for the elderly in collaboration with health experts.

Opening of Sugovardhan Goshala (Cow Shelter)

The home has recently started a Goshala (cow shelter) in memory of deceased members. The shelter’s opening was attended by prominent figures. This will help to provide employment to the elderly by involving them in cow-care and related farming activities.
