A Delhi court on December 18 granted bail to an accused in an alleged attempt-to-murder case registered in the Roop Nagar area, after examining the nature of the injuries and the material placed on record by the prosecution.
The order was passed by Additional Sessions Judge Ankur Jain of the Tis Hazari Courts following detailed submissions made during the hearing. The accused, Sourabh, was represented by advocates Shreyas Malik and Vishesh Sapra, who advanced arguments on the applicability of the offence and the evidentiary gaps in the prosecution’s case.
While considering the bail application, the court observed that the injuries attributed to the incident did not, at this stage, justify the invocation of the offence of attempt to murder. The court also noted that the investigating agency was unable to produce the alleged weapon said to have been used in the incident.
After assessing the case diary, medical records, and submissions made by both sides, the court concluded that continued incarceration of the accused was not warranted. Accordingly, bail was granted subject to conditions imposed by the court.
The case pertains to an incident reported earlier this year from Delhi’s Roop Nagar area, in which the accused had been arrested under provisions relating to attempt to murder. The defence, led by Shreyas Malik and Vishesh Sapra, maintained that the prosecution’s case did not meet the legal threshold required for denial of bail. The matter remains pending for trial.
